The micro loan scheme in Mbale involves a group of widows and single mothers. A number of them are HIV/AIDS widows and their ages range from 30 to around 60. The scheme has been in operation for around ten years and has been very effective.
The ladies have gelled into a very close knit group and are quick to help each other out. As stated above, a number of the team have been impacted by HIV/AIDS and when these members are unwell and temporarily unable to carry on their small businesses other members of the group step in to help.
