This school, which has operated in the Christian sector of Beirut for 38 years, provides education up to grade 9. In recent times, there has been an influx of Syrian refugee families who have moved into the neighbourhood, seeking a safe place to live. The number of children currently attending now stands at 60, of which 70% are Muslim and 30% Christian. The school uses rented accommodation and is staffed by a small but competent and committed team of teachers. It depends on donations to operate as the parents are unable to meet the full cost of school fees which are low by Lebanese standards. The school headmaster, Charles Khoury, and his small team of staff are doing a remarkable work, in a poor area, to ensure that children, who have experienced much suffering because of the Syrian civil war, receive an education which would otherwise not be possible. In doing so they are extending the prospect of hope for the future through providing the opportunity for education in the present. The quality of education being received is high and can be attributed to the dedication and commitment of the teaching staff, some of whom, including the headmaster, are teaching on a voluntary basis without payment of salary.
