The school at Pangani, which is relatively new, now has over 300 pupils. Although the teachers are not officially registered, they are totally committed to the wellbeing of the children and to the great surprise of the school inspectors, Pangani is out performing other schools in surrounding areas. There are 13 teachers in the school with only one who is fully trained. The leader, who is a head teacher in a government school in Busia, has devised a training programme for the teachers and this is bearing fruit.
Shared Hope has provided funds to dig a well and the provision of fresh water is another major benefit to the community.
While much work still needs to be done here, what has been done is already life changing and there is a real spirit of optimism and hope.
