This school is in an unstable locality due to repeated incursions of MaiMai rebels. The resident tribal group is known for its lack of interest in educational achievement. As a result, teachers had to be sourced from some distance away and given encouragements to stay. Shared Hope support for these teachers is crucial.

There are around 170 boys and 180 girls attending the school from Primary 1 to 6 with half the pupils attending in the morning and half in the afternoon. There is a good teaching environment and discipline. As with many schools, there is a real lack of official workbooks. The director, who also leads the Luapula School, is not only well respected in the teaching profession, but is also an inspirational leader, even in the face of challenges and disappointments. He lives 45km away from the school but visits weekly on his motorbike.
