St John’s High School is located on the north-eastern edge of Lahore not far from the International Airport. Most students who attend are from very poor families, with illiterate parents who work in menial jobs such as maids and daily labourers.  There are around 130 children in the school with classes ranging from preschool to Class 10. They are taught by 11 teachers, including the principal.

The school was originally run by a local organization. However, since 2005, the Principal has been managing the school from her own resources and commitment. This was because she did not want the school to close when the local organisation was no longer able to support it.

The school charges nominal fees which bring in a small amount of money each month. Additional funds come from the sale of stationary and from some local friends. The students provide their own uniforms and books.  Shared Hope began supporting the school in 2020. Some graduates from this school have succeeded and are working in a variety of jobs such as teachers, in the police, in banks and overseas.
